Rent Textbooks Textbook rentals are an option for students who wish to use a book, at a reduced cost, without worrying about reselling the book later via a buyback. During the time that you have possession of the book, you are considered to be responsible for its well being against theft or vandalism. 1. Request Textbook Rental All books with a rent button are books that you may either rent (or in some cases borrow). Rental books must be returned at the end of the rental period. For borrowed books, please check the web site to determine whether the book must be returned, or if you merely must notify other borrows that you currently hold the book. 2. Select Length of Textbook Rental Term You may select a pre-determined rental length (in days), or in most cases you may purchase additional days. Short term (30 days, 45 days, 60 days) Long Term (90 days, 120 days) 3. Await Book Delivery If your book is rented through a book rental web site, the book will either be shipped directly to you, or it will be sourced from another vendor and "drop-shipped" to you. 4. Use Books as Normal Most textbook rental companies permit you to use the book as you would any normal book, so long as you do not reduce the enjoyment that a future book renter would receive. Some highlighting is permitted in textbooks, however excessively highlighting may lead to charges from the rental merchant. 5. Return Book (Usually Pre-Paid) Most book rental companies allow you to send the book back pre-paid. In some case, you may pay extra upfront to receive the book, so you are paying your return shipping in advance.
