CheapBooks was founded in 1997 by David Tiberio in Syracuse, NY. After finishing college, Tiberio began developing internet applications as a hobby and began developing a site to take advantage of the growing web. Initially a site selling magazine subscriptions, CheapBooks soon became an Amazon affiliate offering books, DVD's, music, software, and electronics.

Tiberio was educated at NYIT and SUNY Stony Brook. After studying Architecture, he switched to Business and Philosophy. It was then that he wrote his first book, which he self-published and distributed around the world. Tiberio continued his interest in knowledge to develop one of the oldest and most widely recognized book ecommerce sites.

After spending many years living and working in Manhattan, Tiberio returned to Upstate NY where he was born and raised. Tiberio is unmarried and has no children.

In 2006, Tiberio was featured on "World's Greatest Businesses" for his role as developer and Chief Executive of CheapBooks Inc. The program aired nationally.

CheapBooks is a book price comparison web site, designed primarily for college students and educators to locate textbooks at discount prices. CheapBooks provides an extensive selection of books and is well regarded as having a convenient approach to ecommerce, making life easier for students across the country and abroad.
